Domestic Violence and Brain Injuries
We know that domestic violence can take many different forms, but the objective is always to gain power and control over another intimate partner. When the abuse takes a physical form, there is a likelihood that the survivor will sustain a head injury that might result in a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury).
Many of these injuries go unreported because of the survivor's reluctance to seek treatment, but the data that we do have shows that it is a widespread problem.
