A Bit About Us
Response is Shenandoah County's only agency dedicated to assisting those affected by sexual and domestic violence. Begun in 1980 as a grassroots effort to fill a need in our community, Response has grown over the years until we now have an 18-bed shelter for women and children, and extensive supportive services for survivors, both in- and out-of-shelter.
Response advocates are here to serve men, women, and children who are survivors of intimate partner and domestic violence; this includes victims of physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, and financial abuse.
We are funded by several grants at the federal, state, and local levels and from private foundations. We also receive contributions from individuals, businesses, the faith-based community and civic organizations.

Here at Response, Inc., we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Since our founding, we have been determined to make an impact. The core of our efforts is to bring our team’s fresh ideas and passion to the range of activities we’re involved in. Through all of our endeavors we hope to display the conviction behind our beliefs.
