Pinwheels for Prevention

April is always a busy month as we "plant" pinwheel gardens throughout Shenandoah County in recognition of  Child Abuse Prevention Month.

You might wonder why we plant pinwheels -- The pinwheel has become a widely recognized symbol for the safe and carefree childhood that we all wish for children everywhere. It represents the bright, hopeful future that all children deserve. So we plant these gardens as a way to engage folks in helping to prevent child abuse in our community.

Many volunteers, law enforcement personnel, town office employees, and community members came out to help us this year, so we are thankful for our community's involvement in this project. Enjoy these shots from our "Pinwheels for Prevention" gardens!
